I admit I am a bit of a Photoshop snob, but it’s only because I LOVE Photoshop so much. I fell in love with Photoshop back in 1998 in college. I even remember my first creation, Conan the Barbarian battling a lizard man. I have spent countless hours working (or as I call it playing) in Photoshop; it relaxes me. I understand there are some drawbacks to Photoshop, such as how expensive it is and that it’s not the most user friendly program. Sometimes you just want a simple image without having to be a Photoshop expert.
The great news is there are tons of apps out their geared for novices. I have tried several but have never found one I liked. That is until I heard Chalene Johnson mention a design tool called Canva in passing on her podcast “Build Your Tribe“. I am always up for trying something new I made some motivational images with the program and it went beautifully!
Create Motivational Images
Canva is free* and you can use your Google login or Facebook account so you don’t have another password to remember. There is a quick and easy tutorial on how to use Canva. It only takes a few minutes and then you will be creating some really cool content. I did these three graphics in less than 10 minutes!
*Disclosure: Canva has tons of free layouts and free images, but it also has paid content. The paid content is usually a dollar and you aren’t charged until you reach $10 but remember sometimes this adds up so be careful. You know when you have to pay for content because when you build it, it leaves a Canva watermark.
Why Should You Create Motivational Images?
People just starting or deep into their fitness journey like motivational images. Sometimes you need that little extra push, or maybe you just get tired of seeing the same thing over and over. So instead of using Google to find your content create it yourself. Empower yourself to take control of your business and not be dependant on others.
My top 5 reasons you should start creating:
- You’re not limiting yourself
- Unique content drives traffic to your website (more traffic, more sales)
- You are your own brand, why use someone else’s identity?
- It looks professional
- It’s easy and fun!
Take It a Step Further
Canva is not just about creating motivational images for your social media platforms; there is so much you can do with it. You can create banners and covers for just about every social media platform including Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter and Google+. You can easily create posters, presentations, cards or anything you might need for your business in Canva. You don’t have to be a designer (or pay one) to look like a professional.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
